Definition: This indicator tracks the residential land supply within the Region – unabsorbed and absorbed urban residential and rural (country) residential lands.

Policy Area: Integration of Land Use & Infrastructure

Purpose: To support the growth plan’s objective to direct residential development to existing urban areas and support the build-out of country residential areas at current densities. This indicator is essential for ensuring the Region maintains an adequate land supply to accommodate anticipated growth.

Current Trends: There has been a significant decrease in absorbed land across the Region, indicating that more land is becoming available for development. This trend is essential for addressing future residential needs in accordance with the growth plan’s directives.
