The EMRB is a growth management board established under the Government of Alberta’s Municipal Government Act, and composed of 13 municipal leaders from across the Edmonton Metro Region.
Its mandate — to plan for the future, and to ensure the long-term economic prosperity and quality of life for residents of the Region — is set out in legislation under the EMRB Regulation.

The EMRB’s collaborative approach not only drives positive change and growth for the Region, but it also generates significant cost savings and efficiencies.
Whether it is creating attractive investment conditions, integrating land use and infrastructure, optimizing transportation systems, conserving prime agriculture lands, or cost efficient servicing, the EMRB is leading the way in policy and best practice development.
All these pieces are integral to building strong and vibrant communities, setting the stage to ensure the Region remains globally competitive.
