EMRB to Have First Rural Board Chair
New Board Chair and Vice Chair appointed for two-year term effective November 1, 2023.
Edmonton, AB — In a unanimous vote, the members of the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board (EMRB) elected Mayor Allan Gamble as the sixth Chair of the Board and Mayor Jeff Acker as Vice Chair during their June 8, 2023 Board meeting. Current Board Chair, Mayor William Choy, is set to conclude his term on October 31, 2023.
First elected to public office in 2021, Allan Gamble is the Mayor of Parkland County, and current EMRB Board Vice Chair. A dynamic leader and community builder, Mayor Gamble comes from a family with deep ties to Parkland County. With a strong business acumen and a passion for public service, he brings more than two decades of executive-level experience in startups and multinational organizations. With his exceptional skill in connecting with people and a leadership style firmly grounded in collaboration and inclusivity, he endeavors to lead the Region towards unparalleled growth, prosperity, and well-being.

Jeff Acker was first elected to Spruce Grove City Council in 2007, and is serving his first term as Mayor. He is the current Vice Chair of the EMRB’s Growth Plan Five-Year Interim Review Task Force. A lifelong resident of Spruce Grove, Mayor Acker has successfully owned and operated an internet services and hosting company since 1996. Mayor Acker recognizes the importance of collaboration in the face of rapid regional growth, so as to ensure the Region remains globally competitive with a high quality of life.
